With a warm smile and sharp eye for detail, Julia is often the first friendly face you'll see at GFG—where she plays a key role in helping individuals and businesses feel supported, informed, and confident in their financial planning.
Julia’s path to financial services has been uniquely shaped by a mix of administrative and legal experience. Originally born in Spokane, she was raised in Belgrade, Montana, and returned to the Inland Northwest six years ago to pursue new opportunities and put down roots of her own. Before joining Guardian Financial, she worked as a paralegal for a local Social Security law firm and earned her notary public certification in Washington State. This mix of experience makes her a calm, capable guide for clients navigating complex systems.
At Guardian Financial Group, Julia supports a team that specializes in financial planning, tax preparation, payroll, insurance, and bookkeeping. What makes GFG truly different? Their proactive approach to client support. Instead of charging per consultation, they break down annual costs into monthly payments, making it easy for clients to reach out with questions or concerns anytime—without fear of extra fees. Whether it’s an entrepreneur with multiple investments or a family planning for retirement, GFG helps their clients build long-term strategies with clarity and confidence.

Outside of work, Julia is a talented artist who enjoys painting, drawing, ceramics, and chalk pastels. She also loves video games, cooking, and reading with her family. She’s a self-described creative soul who finds joy in both structure and expression—qualities that make her so effective in a dynamic work environment.
Since joining Burbity Workspaces in May, Julia has loved the welcoming atmosphere, flexible amenities, and energizing aesthetics. Meet Matt Morrissey, a dedicated Burbity member at Sullivan Valley Commons for the past 6 months, who brings over a decade of experience in the home improvement industry. Originally from Montana, Matt now leads the team at RROC Exteriors, specializing in roofing, siding, windows, gutters, and decks.
What sets RROC Exteriors apart? A deep commitment to customer service and a “homeowner-first” approach. Matt believes in being proactive when it comes to home care—waiting too long can lead to bigger (and more expensive) problems.
When he’s not working, Matt enjoys being outside and making the most of the outdoors—recharging through recreation and fresh air.
He says the best part about Burbity is the amazing staff, always available to lend a hand with a smile. His advice to homeowners: “Don’t wait until it’s too late—stay ahead on maintenance and protect your investment.”
Meet Michael James Castillo, a financial services professional with over 29 years of experience helping people achieve one of life’s biggest milestones—homeownership. Michael works with Evergreen Home Loans, a company known for simplifying the home buying process and creating innovative solutions to make homeownership possible, even for clients who may have challenges qualifying through traditional channels.
One of Evergreen’s unique offerings allows existing homeowners to purchase their new home before selling their current one, providing peace of mind and flexibility during what can be a stressful time. Michael takes pride in offering “outside-of-the-box” solutions that give hope to people who may have been turned down elsewhere.
For Michael, the best part of his job is simple yet profound: giving people hope. Helping individuals and families secure a place to call home is not just work for him—it’s a calling.
Outside of work, Michael has a creative and adventurous side. He enjoys writing and has even self-published a book on Amazon. Music is another passion—he loves playing guitar—and he finds time for recreational shooting as well. Family is at the heart of everything he does: he and his wife of 28 years have four daughters and honor the memory of their son, who is in heaven.
At Burbity Workspaces, Michael enjoys being part of a diverse group of professionals across different industries. He’s excited to be part of such a welcoming community that fosters productivity and connection.
Say hello to Serena Worobel, a passionate Product Director at AssetWorks, where she blends the art of listening with the science of software. Serena’s role bridges the gap between those who use her company’s tools—fleet managers, maintenance techs, and billing admins—and the developers who bring their ideas to life. She thrives on the challenge of turning feedback and feature requests into real, working solutions that improve operations for government agencies managing vehicle fleets.
Originally from Chicago, Serena moved west to attend the University of Idaho—and never looked back. Now a proud Coeur d’Alene resident for over 20 years, she has found her professional home at AssetWorks and her work home at Burbity Workspaces.
What Serena loves most about her job is taking ideas from a simple conversation and watching them transform into powerful, user-centered software. It’s a process that inspires her daily—and working with clients who are equally passionate about their own work makes it even better.
At Burbity, Serena appreciates the flexibility of the space: whether she needs heads-down time or a place to collaborate with colleagues, she’s found the perfect fit. “It really is a welcoming environment,” she says—and we’re glad she’s part of ours.
Meet Stacie Brown, a powerhouse of purpose at the Center for Personal Protection and Safety (CPPS), where she blends her passion for leadership, education, and safety to create training that truly makes a difference. Originally from Orange County, California, Stacie landed in Spokane thanks to the Air Force—and she never looked back. Alongside her husband and now-grown daughter, she’s built a life rooted in resilience, outdoor adventure, and meaningful work.
When she’s not working on innovative safety programs, Stacie’s making memories outdoors—snowmobiling, skiing, or relaxing by a bonfire or river with friends and family. She’s also a spice enthusiast and margarita lover, always chasing bold flavors and unforgettable moments.
At CPPS, Stacie designs experiential, scenario-based learning programs focused on workplace violence prevention, threat assessment, de-escalation, and travel risk management. Their clients? Everyone from schools and corporate teams to government agencies—basically, anyone serious about creating a culture of preparedness. CPPS is trusted by over half the Fortune 100 and is the exclusive training provider for ASIS International.
What sets their work apart? They don’t just train. They transform—empowering individuals and organizations to respond with confidence in high-risk situations. Stacie loves witnessing the moment when a person realizes they have the power to protect themselves—it’s a shift in energy that drives everything she does.
At Burbity, she thrives on the positive energy, welcoming staff, and collaborative environment. “The space is perfect for productivity and connection,” she shares—and we’re so glad she’s a part of our community.
Meet Stephen Boyd, a member of our coworking space since September 2024. Stephen loves the Pacific Northwest and enjoys spending time outdoors, participating in watersports, running, cycling, and riding motorcycles. He's passionate about his family, Asian food, and his career as a mortgage lender with Evergreen Home Loans.
With 18 years of experience in residential lending, Stephen takes a consultative approach, helping his clients plan for the future by incorporating financial planning into their home-buying process. He enjoys working with first-time homebuyers and real estate investors alike, making the process enjoyable and educational.
If you're looking to purchase, build, or refinance a property, Stephen is here to help.
Meet Stephen Johnson, an innovator whose love for the wilderness and passion for technology have merged into something remarkable. Stephen is the creator of Topo Maps+, a powerful mapping app that helps outdoor enthusiasts plan and navigate backcountry adventures—whether they’re using an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, or Android device.
Stephen’s journey into mobile app development began at the very dawn of the iPhone era. Back when he worked at a mobile app company, he was among the first to explore the possibilities of Apple’s brand-new platform. A formative experience backpacking in North Idaho—when he and his group became lost—sparked an idea that would later shape his career. As Stephen navigated out of the wilderness without GPS, he dreamed of having an iPhone that could guide him. When Apple announced the iPhone 3G with built-in GPS, he knew he had to create an app that could empower others in the backcountry. Though it took time and perseverance to bring it to life, Stephen is proud that Topo Maps+ is now relied upon by adventurers worldwide.
What sets Topo Maps+ apart is its deep integration across Apple platforms, particularly the Apple Watch. Stephen has personally switched to navigating almost exclusively with his Apple Watch Ultra on his own backpacking trips—an experience that underscores the app’s intuitive design and powerful capabilities. His favorite part of the job? Testing new features during multi-day backpacking excursions. It’s not every day that field research doubles as an outdoor adventure.
At Burbity Workspaces, Stephen appreciates having a focused environment where he can get into a deep flow and build the next generation of tools for explorers. When he isn’t refining Topo Maps+, you’ll likely find him in the mountains, charting his next journey.
